Barcelona managed to cut into Atletico Madrid’s advantage in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals thanks to a goal from Lamine Yamal. Barcelona took the pitch at the Metropolitano Stadium with the urgency required to overturn the 2-0 deficit Atletico Madrid built in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals. Lamine Yamal scored the opener just minutes into the match.
The young Spanish winger capitalized on a mistake by Clement Lenglet in the 4th minute of the first half. The defender attempted a back pass to goalkeeper Juan Musso, but Yamal intercepted it. The loose ball fell to Ferran Torres, who set up Lamine for the game’s first goal.
With that early strike, Barcelona showed they are very much alive in the tie, cutting the deficit to just one goal with plenty of time still to play at the Metropolitano Stadium. However, Atletico Madrid are not backing down and are also pushing for a goal that would restore their cushion.
